Shires(R) Sweet Iron Double Jointed Pelham Bit A stainless steel bit with sweet iron mouthpiece. Sweet iron bits are designed to oxidize to produce a sweet taste which helps with mouthing. The copper ribs ensure the horse will not take up too much of a contact, ideal for horses that can take a hold. Pelhams work on the poll, corners, bars, tongue and chin groove. This bit will assist with control. The jointed mouthpiece will lessen the nutcracker action. The copper and sweet iron will encourage the horse to be softer in the mouth.
